Viviane 2nd May 2019
Email Marketing is still one of the most commonly used and cost effective ways to create conversions. It has evolved over the past few years with marketing teams needing to put more emphasis on personalization and overcoming the technical challenges of getting emails delivered.
Poor email deliverability can damage your reputation and all your hard work preparing an email campaign goes out the window if your email land in the spam folder of the receiver. To improve your deliverability, Leadiro put together a few easy tips to follow.
Not using a reputable email service provider: Make sure your IP address is clean – not associated with spam. Try and use a well-known email provider which has a strong anti-spam filter and works to maintain a good reputation.
Avoid Spam words: Avoid certain words within your email subject lines. Spam trigger words are as an example: -Congratulations, -Click here, -Dear friend, -Order now, -Increase sales, etc. all the ones we all have seen in our Inbox before.
Engagement rates: Newsletters,
Whitepapers & Emails with a low open rate can be easy flagged as spam. Gmail, which has about 300
million active users worldwide, looks at open, reply, and forward rates to
indicate the level of engagement readers have with emails. Read this article https://leadiro.com/the-dos-and-donts-of-email-marketing-in-2019/
to get the best results for your Emails.
Include your company address: It builds trust within you and your audience and looks more professional, but also there is a bigger chance that your email does NOT land in the spam folder.
Analyse your Bounces: If the same email address bounces twice you need to remove this contact from your list. There could be a few different reasons why the Email bounced: -Non-existent Email, Undeliverable Email, Mailbox Full or Blocked Email.
Cleaning up your Contact list
If your email list is clean you will have high open rates, high click rates, and your subscribers will be highly engaged. If this is not the case – the lower the open rate and the higher your bounce rate and your audience might not even see your emails. If you never have cleaned your list, you are paying for inactive subscribers. A smaller list with more engaged subscribers is worth more than a large list with people who don’t even open your email.
Simply remove inactive or invalid Email addresses from your Email
list, e.g. all subscribers who have not opened your emails in the last 6
months. When cleaning your contact list, you don’t lose out. Your click rates
will be improve as the cold contacts who never opened your email are now
removed and open and click rates are calculated as a percentage of the total
number of emails sent and opened.
Also your bounce rate will drastically go down, as bounces are caused by undeliverable email addresses on your list. Too many bounces have the same effect as spam complaints: they hurt your sender reputation which results in more of your emails ending up in spam folders. With removing these contacts your sender reputation will get better again.
The most important point is that it will Save your Money, email marketing services providers charge you for
the numbers of subscribers you have or to number of emails sent.
Why not clean up your email list and save money – don’t pay for emails which are not even opened!
